Qld: Casa warns up to 1500 planes in state could be contaminated
BRISBANE, Jan 11 AAP - The fuel crisis sweeping eastern Australia has grounded up to
1,500 light aircraft servicing outback, central and south-east Queensland.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) today warned owners of piston-engine aircraft
in the regions south of Townsville to ground their planes until given clearance to fly.
Only aircraft with 10 seats or less were at risk of contamination if fuel was bought
from Mobil's Altona refinery in Melbourne since mid November, CASA spokesman Peter Gibson
said.
