6,000 places netted early as most sign up online for Fun Run

ALL the places in this year's Great Midlands Fun Run have beensnapped up early by kind hearted fund-raisers.

Registration for the Heraldsponsored event closed last Thursday(March 31), ahead of the planned cut-off date, because the maximumof 6,000 participants had been reached. It is the second time in asmany years that the event has had a full house, and the internet hasbeen a key factor in boosting the numbers.

Event director Tracey Spare said: "The web is becoming anincreasingly important means of promoting the Fun Run and recruitingentrants through the online registration facility.

"Registration for this year closed when we reached 6,000applications on Thursday, with 75 per cent of entrants using theonline facility to enter, clearly demonstrating the importance ofthe website."

It is thanks, in part, to the latest members of 'Team Fun Run',Reflection Marketing, who have come on board as sponsors and giventhe event's website a makeover.

As well as the website, Reflection has created the new TracX E-Newsletter, allowing the latest news to be distributed in thequickest and most effective manner.

Mr Spare added: "It was also time to give the Fun Run web site afacelift and at the same time develop a more dynamic, efficient andeasier to navigate on-line resource.

"Reflection Marketing has the necessary expertise and resourcesto help us achieve our objectives and I hope this will be the startof a long-term relationship."

Reflection has also entered a team into the Fun Run for the firsttime and will be raising money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.The company will also have a stand on the Parade in Sutton Coldfieldon the big day with a face painter and balloon sculptor entertainingthe spectators.
